We're rolling out a feature on the city website that does something simple but overdue: it gives every Silex resident a direct, traceable way to reach their Board of Aldermen. How it will work Go to cityofsilex.gov and choose "Contact Your Alderman." Pick your representative — Holcomb, McDonald, Rice, or Baker — type your message, and click send. Your Alderman is notified by both email and text message and can reply through whichever they prefer. Their reply lands back in the same conversation thread on the website, where you can read and respond. Why we're doing this Right now, residents who want to reach an Alderman have to track down personal email addresses or phone numbers, and there's no easy paper trail if a message is missed. The new system fixes both problems at once: it gives citizens a one-click channel, and it automatically preserves the conversation as a public record under Missouri Sunshine Law (RSMo Chapter 610). If someone asks "did you ever respond to Mrs. Smith about the drainage on Spring Street?" — there will be an answer, with timestamps.
